Da Hong Pao also known as Big Red Rope, is an exclusive oolong. The tea is grown in a region of the WuYi Mountains in the Fujian province of China. Leaves are packed with antioxidants and described to produce a rich mineral taste. The brew itself has red and brown complexion. It is highly valued due to its exceptional quality, scarcity, and history. Legend has it that Da Hong Pao is the tea that cured an ill mother of an emperor. Regular consumption of Da Hong Pao tea is believed to promote a healthy heart, promote weight loss, boost the immune system, promote healthy skin, increase energy, and boost mental alertness.
Brewing Instructions: Use filtered water and bring it to boil (194 - 205º). Portion amount of leaves according to kettle size and party (Recommended, 3 – 10g). The first few infusions should be steeped for approximately 1 – 2 minutes (steep time should increase with more infusions). Be careful not to over steep the tea, as it will leave a bitter taste to the brew.
Recommended Style: Gongfu Method – small clay tea pot (Yixing) or bowl (Gaiwan) with clay tea cups.
